- School of Robotics
- Its learning activities include:
- “Experience & Capacity”
- project experience
Robotikos mokykla (School of Robotics) is a non-profit educational institution founded in 2012 in Lithuania. It provides non-formal STEAM education for children, young people, and adults, offering a wide range of technology-focused courses tailored to different age groups and levels of experience.
- Robotics and electronics
- 3D modeling and printing (SolidWorks, Fusion, Tinkercad)
- Programming with micro:bit, Minecraft: Education Edition, Scratch, Unity (including VR and photogrammetry), and Arduino
- Artificial Intelligence (Google Teachable Machine, TensorFlow, Dobot Magician)
- Other related STEAM topics
Since 2014, Robotikos mokykla has also been training educators in robotics, electronics, engineering, and innovation. It offers several nationally recognized teacher qualification programs and uses hands-on, inquiry-based methods to build practical technological skills.
The school is equipped with modern technologies, upgraded in 2019 through an EU-funded grant. Its infrastructure includes 3D printers, robotic arms, laser cutters, VR sets, Internet of Things experimentation kits, computer vision processors and optics, and a wide range of electronics.
Robotikos mokykla collaborates with schools, universities, NGOs, and industry partners, and participates in engineering projects, hackathons, and competitions. It communicates primarily through its website and social media channels and has over 10,000 followers on Facebook.
The organization employs 4–7 staff members, works with around 10 external experts, and cooperates with up to 20 teachers.
Robotikos mokykla has extensive experience in local, national, and international projects in both formal and non-formal education. Since joining Erasmus+ KA2 in 2017, it has coordinated 8 projects and participated as a partner in many more across school education, VET, youth, and adult sectors. Most coordinated projects have received “Good Practice” recognition.
School Education
Robotikos mokykla coordinated four partnership projects focused on innovative teaching and engaging learning. A flagship result is “Think Inside the Box!”, a STEAM methodology validated by over 80 teachers and 1,400 students in three countries. The project received the European Innovative Teaching Award 2022 and national recognition in Lithuania.
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
In VET, the KA2 project “Introducing Artificial Intelligence to Vocational Schools in Europe” received a high evaluation score (96) and “Good Practice” status. Robotikos mokykla led the development of learning materials, including Machine Learning Agents in Game Design for ICT teachers and students.
Adult Education
In adult education, projects such as ADaPT4Future created a 3D printing toolkit for adults and reached more than 200 learners, many from disadvantaged backgrounds. The school now coordinates GENIE, a project focused on basic generative AI skills for adults.
In 2024, Robotikos mokykla received national accreditation to deliver a non-formal Electronics Programmer training program and began offering courses via the national learning platform Kursuok.lt.
Youth Sector
In the youth field, Robotikos mokykla collaborates with youth centers to promote creative technologies.
- In Young Creators Discover 3D, over 30 youth workers and 300 young people tested 3D workshop methodologies.
- The project Digital Tools for Youth Work developed and piloted digital tools and training for youth workers, strengthening their digital competence and capacity to work with young people.
Project Team
The project is implemented by a team of education professionals who have been working together for more than 10 years, teaching in schools and working as engineers in industry and research organisations.
- Paulius Briedis – Over 15 years of experience leading teachers, trainers, and researchers. Oversees the development of intellectual outputs and promotes robotics education at national and international levels.
- Expert 1 – Biomechanics engineering graduate; experienced technology educator, 3D modeling content developer, and trainer in several KA2 projects.
- Expert 2 – MSc in Robot Systems Engineering; machine learning engineer with 4 years of practical experience, skilled in AI, data analysis, and CAD/CAM automation; developed an AI learning module for vocational schools.
- Expert 3 – PhD in Informatics; manages robotics and AI projects, teaches software engineering, contributed to “AI Skills for ICT Professionals,” and was part of the team behind Lithuania’s first satellite, LituanicaSAT-1.
Awards & Achievements
- Two fifth-grade students, Mykolas Kavaliauskas and Justas Jasevičius, won a theoretical project competition at the LEGO Robot Constructors League with a robotic arm designed for individuals with reduced arm mobility. This highlighted the impact of early engagement in robotics and inclusive design.
- Head of Robotikos mokykla, Paulius Briedis, presented student-driven innovations, including a device for visually impaired people and the “Toyze” 3D printing app. The school emphasized engineering education for a wide age range and actively encouraged the participation of girls in STEM.
- Robotikos mokykla used 3D printing to create tactile models of landmarks and objects, supporting accessibility for visually impaired people and raising awareness about inclusive design in Lithuania.
- During the COVID-19 pandemic, the school contributed to healthcare efforts by designing protective face shields and respirator disinfection prototypes. These were produced by local makers using 3D printers and lasers and distributed to hospitals, demonstrating the school’s ability to respond quickly to societal needs.
- Robotikos mokykla received the European Innovative Teaching Award 2022 and national recognition in Lithuania for its contributions to innovative teaching methods and educational excellence.
- The school obtained national accreditation for a non-formal Electronics Programmer program and began offering courses via Kursuok.lt, marking an important milestone in expanding accessible STEAM learning opportunities in Lithuania.
